Professional childcare services in Aberdeen
This long-established nursery is registered with the Care Inspectorate to accommodate 32 children at any one time. We have spacious rooms and play areas for the children to explore and investigate. Our learning environment is safe, stimulating and challenging, engaging the children in purposeful play.
Before starting nursery, we warmly welcome children to visit with their parents, enabling them to be familiarised with the nursery environment. We have an induction process that includes a settling-in period which is tailored to each, individual child. We work alongside the parents to incorporate the child’s routine into our daily activities.
Play makes a major contribution to all aspects of
children’s development and learning.
We follow the Pre-Birth to 3 Curriculum for babies and toddlers, up to the age of 3. From the age of 3 years old, we follow the Curriculum for Excellence, which is continued into Primary School. We carry out various activities, such as:
Feeding young bodies and minds
All our meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared by our local caterers, Entier. They deliver our meals every day and they are stored and heated as per Food Hygiene Standards. We can accommodate for all dietary requirements and the weekly menu is clearly displayed for parents to view. Our menus are reviewed twice yearly for winter and summer and rotate on a 4-weekly basis.
At Donview Nursery, we hold an annual sports day at our local park and encourage parents to attend and provide support to all.
At Donview Nursery, we hold a formal parents’ evenings once a year, with the opportunity to attend an additional informal information evening throughout the year. We actively engage with parents at each drop off/collection to share and update relevant information.
Throughout the year, the children take part in many different celebrations from different traditions and cultures, e.g. Chinese New Year, Diwali, Easter and Robert Burns’ Day. The children also take part in a Christmas performance each year and invite parents along to share in the experience. With a different performance each year, the children’s enthusiasm and level of enjoyment is always high.
We believe it is paramount that we do everything we can to ensure that the children leave Donview Nursery happy, confident and excited about the upcoming challenges of primary school. We have fostered strong links with our local primary school, Woodside Primary, and we visit on a regular basis throughout the year. During the month of June, we team up with them to deliver a transition programme to prepare the pre-school children for the big step up to Primary 1. This includes use of the school gym, having packed lunches in the school canteen, experiencing healthy tuck and playtime in the big playground, all of which the children really enjoy.
To top it all off, we hold a graduation ceremony at the end of the academic year for all the children moving on to Primary School. They dress up in graduation caps and gowns, and parents are invited to come along and listen to some songs and watch their children receive their graduation diplomas. Whilst we are sad to say goodbye to our school-leavers, it is also a very proud day and we are always honoured to have played our part in preparing them for their next adventure.
