Professional childcare services in Aberdeen
Donview Nursery provide high quality childcare for babies and children aged up to 5 years.
This long-established nursery is licensed by the SCSWIS (formerly the Care Commission) to accommodate 32 children at any one time. We have spacious rooms and play areas for the children to explore and investigate. Our learning environment is safe, stimulating and challenging, engaging the children in purposeful play.
Play makes a major contribution to all aspects of children’s development and learning.
All our meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared and cooked on a daily basis on our premises. We can accommodate for all dietary requirements and the weekly menu is clearly displayed for parents to view. The children also have independent access to fresh Scottish mineral water.
We carry out various activities, such as:
- Circle time – storytelling, singing, sharing news and experiences
- Opportunities for structured and spontaneous play time
- Opportunities for children to rest
- Wide range of indoor and outdoor activities
- Music lessons with Jo Jingles
- Meal and snack-times
We also have out-of-nursery activities, such as:
- Regular trips to the library, park and local community
- Educational trip, e.g. to Satrosphere
- Annual Sports Day
Our range of facilities include:
- Babies' Room
- Tweenies’ Room (aged 2 - 3 years)
- 3- 5s Room
- Messy playrooms with water and sand tables
- Safe, secure, well-equipped garden
Sports Day
At Donview Nursery, we hold an annual sports day at our local park and encourage parents to attend and provide support to all.
Parents’ Evenings
At Donview Nursery, we hold parents’ evenings twice a year, but actively engage with parents at each drop off / collection to share and update relevant information.
Donview Nursery Parents’ Association
Recently, we established a Parents’ Association which represents all parents. The role of the association is to facilitate open and effective communication between the nursery and parents. Typically, we hold a meeting in the nursery once every term. Copies of the Parents’ Association constitution are distributed upon joining and are available from the office upon request.
Celebrations
Throughout the year, the children take part in many different celebrations from different traditions and cultures, e.g. Chinese New Year, Diwali, Easter and Robert Burns’ Day. The children also take part in a Christmas play each year and invite parents along to share in the experience. With a different performance each year, the children’s enthusiasm and level of enjoyment is always high.
Graduation
A graduation ceremony is held each summer for all the children moving on to Primary School. They dress up for the occasion and parents are invited to watch their children receive their graduation diplomas.
